For five decades, we’ve been transforming used clothing into dignified livelihoods, empowering thousands of entrepreneurs across Africa to build businesses, support families, and create lasting change.
For five decades, we’ve been transforming used clothing into dignified livelihoods, empowering thousands of entrepreneurs across Africa to build businesses, support families, and create lasting change.
It began in the late 1970s, not with a business plan, but with a plane ticket.
Our founder was invited to Africa at a time when much of the continent was facing deep poverty and limited opportunity. Until then, his work was simple: collecting old clothes, cutting them into rags, and selling them to mechanics. But what he saw overseas stopped him cold. People weren’t asking for charity. They were asking for a fair shot, for goods they could buy, resell, and build something from. A shirt, a pair of jeans, a jacket, these weren’t scraps to them; they were starting points. Tools for trade.
That realisation turned everything on its head. Used clothing didn’t have to end up as waste. It could start a business. Feed a family. Build a future. That realisation changed everything. A simple belief that people don’t need handouts, they need a fair chance to earn their own bread. That single shift changed our path forever, and half a century later, it’s still what drives us.
At the core of everything we do sits a simple truth: progress means nothing if it leaves people or the planet behind. Our work exists at the intersection of two commitments — cutting waste to protect the environment, and opening doors so people everywhere can move forward with dignity, opportunity, and pride.
This business was built on a belief that’s guided our team long before the first bale was shipped, long before the first partnership was formed. It started with a realisation from our founder — one of those rare lessons life gives you early if you’re paying attention.

The true value of life has nothing to do with the balance in your bank at the end. It’s the impact you make on the journey that counts. You can leave with money, or you can actually live with purpose. Helping people and caring for the environment — that’s been our purpose from day one, and it will be long after we’re gone. Because the return on a life lived with purpose? That’s priceless.
Our business is rooted in trust, the kind that’s earned over decades.
in Every Deal
in Every Shipment
in Every Transaction
We don’t just ship containers. We build markets. Over the years, Recyclatex has helped set up warehouses, sorting facilities, and micro-enterprises across Africa and beyond, not just as suppliers, but as partners in local growth. Each project means more jobs, stronger communities, and a self-sustaining cycle of trade that continues long after the first shipment lands.
We actively seek joint ventures and open to new partnerships that share our values and vision. Together, we’re proving that profit doesn’t have to come at the planet’s expense and that ethical trade can still drive real business growth.
We help build local sorting facilities and distribution centres that create jobs, drive skill development, and strengthen local economies.
We connect with buyers and suppliers who prioritise ethical sourcing, quality control, and transparent business practices.
We offer insights, strategies, and connections to entrepreneurs who want to start or expand their own textile trade operations.
We collaborate on projects that merge sustainability with empowerment, proving that trade can be both profitable and purposeful.
Our second passion is simple: protect the planet now, not someday. The environmental crisis isn’t waiting, and neither are we. Every piece of clothing reused, every item diverted from landfill, every bale given a second life is one more step toward a cleaner, safer tomorrow.
This work isn’t a side project — it’s a vital piece of the bigger picture. Think of it as one part of the jigsaw that worldofeco.com has built to make environmental action something everyone can join. No fees. No barriers. No excuses. Just practical ways for everyday people and everyday businesses to do something meaningful for the planet.
By extending the life of textiles, we’re contributing directly to the Fashion Industry’s push toward a genuine textile circular economy. Not a trend. Not a marketing line. A real system where resources stay in use longer, communities benefit, and waste stops being the final chapter.
Recyclatex is proud to be part of the World of E’Co.com initiative, building a smarter, fairer, and more sustainable global trading community where business drives positive change.
Let’s build something that’s profitable and purposeful together.
